The wait for the iPhone 5 is coming to an end.
That is, of course, if the latest rumors from iMore are true. According to their sources, the next iPhone will be announced on September 12. Then you’ll only have to wait nine days for the official release on Friday, September 21.
If this seems to be a quicker turn around than past iPhone models—it’s because it is. There were about 16 months between the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S and a year between the 3GS and the 4. This time, however we’re looking at just an 11-month lapse—which is less than half the duration of most phone contracts.
The other rumor? There won’t actually be an iPhone 5—not because they’re going to announce the iPhone 4S2, but because sources say Apple’s scrapping the numerical product names across the board. Remember in March when the iPad 3 was actually the “new iPad”? Similarly, the next iPhone won’t be the iPhone 5, but simply the “iPhone.”
Regardless of the name of the next iPhone, we know you’re going to want it. We’re also pretty sure you won’t physically cannot wait until your contract is fulfilled to upgrade phones—and we don’t blame you. To help alleviate some of the strain that will place on your wallet, we offer competitive prices on iPhone trades. Historically, the closer we get to a new phone release, the further prices for current iPhone models drop. That means the time to trade is NOW. We offer a 21-day price lock—get your quote today, but keep your device for 21 more days—so you can get the best price without giving up your device too early.
Have you heard any good iPhone 5—er, iPhone—rumors lately? Which one are you most anticipating?
